At Speak & Sparkle, we believe that learning English becomes even more meaningful when different ideas and skills come together. This semester, we had the opportunity to collaborate with our school’s English Debate Club, creating an inspiring experience for both teams.
For this collaboration, we selected a courtroom scene from the TV series Suits. The English Debate Club first performed the scene as a live debate, focusing on persuasive speaking, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Afterwards, the Speak & Sparkle team transformed the very same scene into a dubbing performance, allowing us to focus on pronunciation, intonation, voice acting, and emotional expression.
This collaboration showed us that although debate and dubbing are different activities, they both help students develop confidence, communication skills, and fluency in English. It was exciting to see how one scene could be interpreted in two completely different but equally creative ways.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the management team of the English Debate Club, Zeynep Melis Yıldırım and Göktürk Ahmet Çayırlı, for their cooperation, support, and dedication throughout this collaboration. Working together made this experience even more valuable, and we are grateful for their contribution.
We would also like to thank our Speak & Sparkle Social Media Team for documenting this collaboration, preparing visual content, and sharing our work with the school community. Their creativity and continuous effort helped us reach more students and showcase the impact of our project.
We hope this collaboration will be the first of many future projects where students can learn, create, and inspire one another.
Together, we don’t just speak English—we bring it to lif
