Months of planning, rehearsing, recording, and teamwork finally came together on one unforgettable day.
Our second-term Speak & Sparkle Presentation was held in two separate sessions for our 9th and 10th grade students, giving us the opportunity to share not only our English skills but also an important message about empathy, kindness, and standing against bullying.
The program began with an opening speech by Esma Dila Eldeymez, the Founder and Project Leader of Speak & Sparkle. In her speech, she introduced the purpose of the project, reflected on its journey throughout the academic year, and explained why the team had chosen Wonder as the focus of this semester’s presentation. She emphasized that Speak & Sparkle is more than an English project—it is a space where students learn to express themselves with confidence, creativity, and courage.
Following the opening speech, our Project Mentor, Meltem Çevik, addressed the audience. She shared her thoughts on the importance of encouraging students to use English in meaningful and creative ways and congratulated the team for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
Throughout the presentation, dubbed scenes from Wonder were shown alongside informative sections prepared by our team. Between each scene, we explained the themes behind the story, discussing bullying, prejudice, empathy, kindness, and the importance of respecting differences. These transitions helped the audience connect the film’s message with real-life experiences and encouraged them to reflect on the values presented throughout the program.
The presentation was not only an opportunity to demonstrate our English speaking skills but also a chance to raise awareness through storytelling. Every recording, every rehearsal, and every presentation segment reflected the effort and collaboration of our entire team.
The positive feedback we received from both teachers and students made all of our hard work worthwhile. Knowing that our voices and our message reached the audience reminded us why Speak & Sparkle was created in the first place.
This presentation marked the successful conclusion of another unforgettable chapter in our journey. More importantly, it reminded us that language has the power not only to communicate—but also to inspire, educate, and bring people together.
As Speak & Sparkle, we are proud of what we accomplished, and we look forward to continuing to use our voices to make a difference.
