As the academic year came to an end, we wanted to organize an activity that would not only improve our members’ writing skills but also give them the opportunity to reflect on their journey throughout the year.
For this reason, Speak & Sparkle organized an Essay Writing Workshop focusing on academic essay structure and effective writing techniques.
During the workshop, participants learned the essential components of an academic essay, including introductions, body paragraphs, conclusions, topic sentences, supporting ideas, and the PEEL writing technique. Together, we explored how to organize ideas clearly, build logical arguments, and express opinions in a well-structured way.
After completing the workshop, participants were invited to write an essay reflecting on their own Speak & Sparkle experience throughout the school year. They shared their thoughts about the activities they participated in, the skills they developed, the confidence they gained, and the memories they created as members of our project.
These essays became much more than a writing exercise. They allowed every participant to look back on their personal growth while giving valuable feedback about Speak & Sparkle and its impact throughout the year.
Reading each essay was one of the most meaningful parts of this activity. Every essay was carefully reviewed, and individual feedback was provided to help students continue improving their academic writing skills.
To celebrate the effort and creativity of our members, the essays were later displayed on our school’s bulletin boards. Seeing their work exhibited encouraged students to take pride in their achievements and inspired others to express themselves through writing.
This workshop reminded us that writing is more than putting words on paper. It is a way of reflecting, learning, and sharing our own stories.
